Celebrate OneWebDay - The Earth Day for the Internet Monday, September 22nd, 2008 @ Cafe Caffeine 909 W. Mary Austin 10am - 8:30pm - Activities all day long! Uber-Jelly: 10-5 Speakers/Discussion: 6:30-8:30 The idea behind OneWebDay is to encourage people to think of themselves as responsible for the internet, and to take good and visible actions on Sept. 22 that (1) celebrate the positive impact of the internet on the world and (2) shed light on the problems of access and information flow. OneWebDay is a global, decentralized event. We're encouraging people around the world to meet up on Sept. 22 to talk about the threats to the net and how the web could change lives around the world in the future. Our Austin event features a day-long extended uber-Jelly, where we'll be interviewing folks about how the Web has changed their lives. We'll be asking: * how the web has changed your life * how you'd like the web to change the world in the future * your favorite online event ever * something you've done online with other people in other countries and posting our clips on YouTube, Blip.tv and dotSub.com as part of a global video mashup. In the evening we'll feature Andrew Donoho, Jon Lebkowsky, Tom Brown, Rich Vázquez talking on online community: communities that form online, as well as how offline communities create online aspects and explore the telecommuting/coworking phenomenon.
